JESSIE
I currently work for Swinburne as a Communications Adviser in the Communications and Media team. I’ve been here for three years and love it, but previously I have worked in various communications and marketing roles in the not for profit sector. My formal qualifications are an Advanced Diploma in Music Business (Melbourne Polytechnic) and Advanced Diploma in Public Relations and Communications (RMIT).
I chose to commence my Masters at Swinburne as the Media and Comms courses have a great reputation in industry, and as a staff member it made sense to study here as well and I love being both staff and a student! Taking on a master’s degree is a big commitment and there is never going to be the perfect time to do it for me, so I thought… why not now?! I work full time and am also studying part time so I can still have a little bit of a life!
Through doing my Masters in Media and Communications at Swinburne
I hope to not only cement my industry knowledge, but also build my practical content making skills.
And I cannot wait to start my master’s electives in digital media production as I’m an aspiring digital content creator. If it’s a video, animation, podcast, photography, digital art – I want to know how to make it! The master’s specialisation in digital media production will definitely give me the skills and the folio pieces for that next step in my career.
I’m only at the beginning of my course, but so far, I’ve loved the guest lectures on big data, communications infrastructure and social media. Hearing from industry experts has been really insightful and extremely useful.
